Ball Screws

Ball Screw and Nut

A ball screw drive is a device that converts rotary motion into linear motion (or vice versa). It consists of a ball screw and ball nut, packaged as an assembly with ball bearings. The interface between the ball screw and nut is made by ball bearings rotating in mating balls. Ball screw drives with rolling elements have a very low coefficient of friction and are typically more than 90% efficient. The transmitted forces are distributed over multiple ball bearings, resulting in a relatively low relative load for each ball.
