The KSS Direct Drive Type is a multifunctional miniature actuator that combines a hollow stepper motor with an integrated Miniature Ball Screw with Ball Spline (BSSP) in a single ultra-compact unit. The direct-drive design enables precise linear and rotary motion while minimizing installation space and mechanical complexity.

The combination of the hollow motor and the integrated BSSP creates an exceptionally slim actuator body, making it an excellent solution for equipment where every millimeter of installation space matters. Unlike belt-driven systems, the Direct Drive configuration contains no belts or pulleys, eliminating wear particles and reducing maintenance requirements.

Its simplified mechanical construction uses fewer components, resulting in improved reliability, easier machine integration and higher positioning accuracy.

For actuators equipped with a 42 mm motor, the Direct Drive Type supports not only linear (Z) and rotary (Θ) motion, but also an integrated vacuum (V) function, allowing multiple machine functions to be combined within a single actuator.

Available with NEMA 11 and NEMA 17 hollow stepper motors, the Direct Drive Type delivers repeatability of ±0.010 mm for the Z-axis and ±0.03° for the rotary axis, making it suitable for demanding precision automation applications.
