Locking Assemblies and Shrink Discs

The friction-locked shaft–hub connection. A backlash-free and friction-based connection for hub bodies and hollow shafts. Self-centering locking assemblies ensure extremely precise concentricity between the clamped components.

  • Locking assemblies without axial displacement are used in machine tools, helical gears, rotary table drives, pumps, and for brake disc mounting.
  • Locking assemblies with low surface pressure are primarily used for extremely thin-walled hubs or hubs made from materials with low yield strength, such as grey cast iron or aluminum.
  • Two-piece shrink discs feature a very flat single taper and transmit the required torque similarly to a tapered interference fit.
  • Three-piece shrink discs are characterized by a steep double taper.
