Why is the R+W intelligent coupling a breakthrough?

Previously, real-time measurement in drive systems was challenging, as connecting cables and instruments to rotating shafts was complex. R+W’s new solution simplifies this: the sensor integrated into the coupling operates as a wireless measuring unit.

The integrated technology measures torque, speed, and temperature in real time. Data is processed directly within the coupling electronics and can be transmitted to mobile devices, computers, or directly into machine control systems.

This allows operating conditions and potential overloads not only to be monitored but also predicted – enabling condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.

Operating principle

The sensor system is integrated into the drivetrain as a wireless measuring unit. The concept is as simple as it is effective:

  • Torque, speed, and temperature are measured to precisely detect operating conditions and overloads
  • Internal R+W electronics record the data and simultaneously transmit it to a connected mobile device or, via a gateway, directly to the machine control system or a PC
