Pneumatic Stepper Motors

BPS pneumatic stepper motors provide highly accurate rotary and linear positioning using compressed air instead of electrical drives. Their unique operating principle utilizes three radially arranged pistons to generate precise 3° incremental rotary movements, while the direction of rotation is determined by the valve switching sequence. Optional hollow shaft and spindle configurations also enable accurate linear motion.

Designed for applications where conventional electric motors cannot operate reliably, BPS stepper motors perform exceptionally well in environments with dust, dirt, humidity, strong electromagnetic fields or explosion hazards. Their robust mechanical construction delivers a positioning repeatability of ±9 arcminutes, independent of the total number of steps, while the integrated self-locking mechanism maintains the motor position even during pressure loss or power failure.

Despite their compact dimensions, BPS motors provide impressive torque performance and can be easily integrated into PLC-controlled automation systems using standard 3/2-way pneumatic valves. Integrated position sensors continuously monitor piston positions, ensuring reliable operation and high process safety.
